So I wish I had seen this post earlier to save Netsfck's followers money again. But he did get one thing right. Hermosa Rey did try to steal the race on the front end with a super slow pace and no pressure. But a decent handicapper would have never ignored the 2nd choice Steven Goldstein. Hermosa Rey was certainly a drop-down contender. After a half-length win at 1/5 two races ago in this class, he jumped up and was parked too long at 4/5. A logical pick. But Steven Goldstein ran very well in this class 3 times. After a long layoff, he finished 2nd from far back followed by a big wire-to-wire win at 3/5 WHICH WAS MUCH MORE IMPRESSIVE THAN Hermosa Rey's win. Last week he had no chance from post 8. So there was at the very least significant doubt as to who the best horse was on paper. I would have picked Steven Goldstein for the reasons listed. He crushed the field today and paid $4.90. Hermosa Rey finished 3rd at 1/2 after stealing the slow half but he couldn't even hold off the pocket-sitting 28-1 2nd place longshot shocker who I could never have included in my picks.
